# FAQ: Will Transcy impact my website's loading speed?

*Adding any app to a Shopify store means adding code to the theme, and Transcy is no exception. Here is what actually decides how quickly your translated pages appear, and what you can do about it.*

## What makes the difference

**Content you have translated in Transcy appears faster.** A translation saved under **Content Translation** is ready before your visitor arrives. There is still a short delay before it shows on screen — that comes from the way the page is assembled on Shopify's side, and it is not something we can shorten further.

**Content left to automatic on-page translation is slower.** The **"3rd-party app"** function translates while the page loads, so the original text appears first and is then replaced. The more of your store that relies on this, the more noticeable the wait.

**Your theme is part of the picture too.** Page speed is the sum of everything the page has to load. A theme built with a large number of features has more to get through before anything else can run, and that affects how quickly your store displays no matter which apps you use.

## What you can do

**→ Translate your content in Transcy.** Open **Content Translation** and check whether each resource has actually been translated. Anything still untranslated is being covered by on-page translation, which is the slower of the two paths.

We follow Shopify's page speed guidelines and test on live storefronts to keep our own footprint as small as we can.
