Get Started with Transcy Geolocation Features
Want to automatically show the right language and currency to visitors based on their location? Transcy's geolocation features help create a personalized shopping experience that can boost your conversion rates. This guide explains how Auto Switch works and how to set it up.
Geolocation helps your store automatically detect where visitors are from and show them content in their preferred language and currency, making shopping feel more natural and increasing the chances they'll complete their purchase.

II. Configuring Geolocation Settings
I. Understanding Geolocation
Geolocation detects your visitors' location to automatically show the most relevant language and currency. Transcy offers this for both key features:
To navigate "Geolocation" → Switcher → Geolocation
- Currency: Always switches based on visitor location
- Language: Switches based on either visitor's browser language or location (you choose)
Two Available Modes:
Auto Switch Mode
Automatically redirects visitors to the correct language/currency as soon as they enter your store.
Recommend Mode
Shows a friendly pop-up suggesting the best language and currency for their location. Visitors can confirm or change their preferences.
Plan Requirements:
- Currency features: Available from Basic plan
- Language features: Available from Growth plan
II. Configuring Geolocation Settings
- In your Transcy app, On the top right of the Geolocation section
- Click Settings in the top right corner
- Assign specific languages and currencies to different locations
- Save your changes
This let's you customize exactly which language and currency each country should see.
III. How Geolocation Works
1. Auto Switch Mode
Instantly redirects visitors to their preferred language and currency the moment they arrive at your store, eliminating confusion and creating a personalized shopping experience that boosts conversions and reduces bounce rates
Auto Switch follows this priority order:
First Priority: Transcy Settings
The system checks your Geolocation settings first. If you've assigned specific languages/currencies to locations, it uses those.
Second Priority: Shopify Markets
If languages/currencies aren't published in Transcy, it falls back to your Shopify Markets configuration. Learn more about Shopify Markets.
Location Switcher Option
Enable "Show location section on Switcher" to let visitors manually change their location. This shows all locations from your Shopify Markets.
2. Recommend Pop-up Mode
Give your customers a seamless experience with Transcy's smart popup! It detects visitor location and suggests the perfect language and currency on their first visit. Customers can accept the recommendation or customize their preferences, then the popup disappears so they can shop without interruptions.
Recommend Pop-up uses the same rules as Auto Switch but gives visitors control:
Pop-up Activation
- Enable "Show location pop-up on the first visit"
- Visitors see a suggestion based on their location
- They can confirm or change language/currency preferences
- Shows all Shopify Markets locations
- If a visitor comes from a location which is not included in any Market, it will show the default store location (Primary Markets)
Manual Location Switching
- "Show location sections on Switcher" lets visitors change location anytime
- Only displays locations added to Shopify Markets
