# Get Started with Transcy Geolocation Features

*Want to automatically show the right language and currency to visitors based on their location? **Transcy's geolocation** features help create a personalized shopping experience that can boost your conversion rates. This guide explains how **Auto Switch** works and how to set it up.*

**Geolocation** helps your store automatically detect where visitors are from and show them content in their preferred language and currency, making shopping feel more natural and increasing the chances they'll complete their purchase.

## I. Understanding Geolocation

**Geolocation** detects your visitors' location to automatically show the most relevant language and currency. **Transcy** offers this for both key features:

To navigate "**Geolocation**" please follow: "**Switcher settings"** → "**Geolocation" → "Auto Switch**" or **"Recommend "** depending on your need.

* **Visitor's Location**: Always switches based on visitor location
* **Visitor's Browser Language**: Switches based on either visitor's browser language or location (you choose)

### Two Available Modes:

**Auto Switch Mode**
Automatically redirects visitors to the correct language/currency as soon as they enter your store.

**Recommend Mode** 
Shows a friendly pop-up suggesting the best language and currency for their location. Visitors can confirm or change their preferences.

**Plan Requirements:**
* **Geolocation is available for users on Continental, Cross-Border and Global plan.**

|| Important: Some countries have regulations about automatically redirecting visitors without permission. Therefore, we recommend using Recommend mode to stay compliant.

## II. Customized Geolocation Settings

If you want to assign a specific language or currency based on your own customization, please go to:
→ In your **Transcy** app, choose "**Switcher settings**"
→ On the top right of the "**Geolocation"** section
→ Click "**Settings"** in the top right corner
→ Assign specific languages and currencies depends on your need
→ Save your changes

This let's you customize exactly which language and currency each country should see.

## III. How Geolocation Works

### 1. Auto Switch Mode

Instantly redirects visitors to their preferred language and currency the moment they arrive at your store, eliminating confusion and creating a personalized shopping experience that boosts conversions and reduces bounce rates

**Auto Switch** follows this priority order:

**First Priority: Transcy Settings**
The system checks your **Geolocation** settings first. If you've assigned specific languages/currencies to locations, it uses those.

**Second Priority: Shopify Markets**
If languages/currencies aren't published in **Transcy**, it falls back to your **Shopify Markets** configuration. [Learn more about Shopify Markets](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/markets).

**Location Switcher Option**
Enable "Show location section on Switcher" to let visitors manually change their location. This shows all locations from your **Shopify Markets**.

| You can customize this for your personal use, such as only "Auto switch currency" or only "Auto switch language" by toggling off the other option.

|| **Note**
|| **Please be advised that in case you use VPN to test this function or access on other countries, your internet connection will be slower than normal, so your store will be slowly translated into target languages**

| Auto Switch works even when switcher display is set to "Only admin"

### 2. Recommend Pop-up Mode

Give your customers a seamless experience with Transcy's smart popup! It detects visitor location and suggests the perfect language and currency on their first visit. Customers can accept the recommendation or customize their preferences, then the popup disappears so they can shop without interruptions.

**Recommend Pop-up** uses the same rules as **Auto Switch** but gives visitors control:

**Pop-up Activation**
* Enable "**Show location pop-up on the first visit**"
* Visitors see a suggestion based on their location
* They can confirm or change language/currency preferences
* Shows all **Shopify Markets** locations
* If a visitor comes from a location which is not included in any Market, it will show the default store location (**Primary Markets**)

**Manual Location Switching**
* "**Show location sections on Switche**r" lets visitors change location anytime
* Only displays locations added to **Shopify Markets**

| You can customize this for your personal use, such as Only "Recommend currency" or Only "Recommend language" by toggling off the other option.

|| Important: Set your switcher display mode to "Everyone" for Recommend pop-up to work properly.

#### Note:

The Recommend pop-up can be customized to show language only, currency only, or neither. However, the **country** section is mandatory and cannot be hidden or disabled in the settings.

**To configure the Recommend pop-up window:**
-> Go to **Switcher settings** ->  **Geolocation**.
-> Check or uncheck **"Recommend currency"** or **"Recommend language"** to customize what appears in the pop-up.
-> Click **Save** at the top right to apply your changes.
