I. Understanding Automate Translation
1. What's in Automate Translation
Transcy's automate translation system introduces intelligent, condition-based translation that adapts to your business needs. Instead of manually selecting each piece of content for translation, you can now create smart rules that automatically identify and translate content based on specific criteria you define.
To unblock this feature please follow : Navigate to Transcy → Translation menu → Automate Translation
2. Available Translation Approaches
You now have two distinct approaches to automate your translation workflow, each designed for different business scenarios:
Perfect for merchants who want granular control over their translation process within Transcy's interface. This approach offers two methods: manual content selection and intelligent condition-based automation.
Ideal for merchants already using Shopify Flow for business automation. This integration allows you to incorporate translation actions directly into your existing workflows, maintaining all your automation in one centralized system.
II. Setting Up Rule-Based Automate Translation
1. Manual Content Selection Method
This straightforward approach gives you complete control over exactly which content gets translated.
Begin by choosing the specific resource type you want to translate:
- Products - Individual product listings and descriptions
- Collections - Product category pages and descriptions
- Blog Posts - Individual blog articles and content
- Pages - Static pages like About Us, FAQ, etc.
- Themes - Template and interface elements
Configure your preferred translation engine for each target language. Transcy supports multiple premium translation services including:
Default Setiing: Translate with previously used engines. Pages without prior AI translations will default to Google Translate.
Customize Translation Engine: Assign specific engines to different content types and languages to optimize translation quality and cost.
You can mix and match engines based on your quality requirements and budget for different language pairs.
Browse through your selected resource and manually choose specific items to include in your translation queue. This method works perfectly when you need to translate specific products for a campaign or selected blog posts for particular markets.
2. Condition-Based Automation Method
This intelligent approach automatically identifies content for translation based on criteria you define, perfect for ongoing automation.
Just like the manual method, start by selecting your resource type and configuring translation engines for each target language.
For Products:
- Status Conditions - Automatically translate products when they're set to
active
or remain indraft
- Category Targeting - Focus on specific product categories relevant to particular markets
- Tag-Based Selection - Use product tags to identify seasonal items, promotions, or specific product lines
- Collection Membership - Automatically translate products when they're added to designated collections
For Blog Posts:
- Visibility Settings - Translate posts set to
visible
or keephidden
posts in your workflow - Category Filtering - Target specific blog categories like tutorials, news, or product updates
Pro Tip: When you set up blog post translation conditions, the blog categories are automatically translated at no additional quota cost, ensuring complete category structure consistency.
For Pages:
- Visibility Control - Choose whether to translate
visible
orhidden
pages - Template Targeting - Focus on specific page templates like product pages, landing pages, or informational content
For Collections:
- Template-Based Selection - Target collections using specific templates for consistent presentation across languages
Future Content Automation:
When you select "Future added items," your translation rules automatically apply to new content that meets your criteria. The system continuously monitors for new content and updates your translation queue accordingly.
III. Shopify Flow Integration
1. Setting Up Translation Actions in Flow
Transcy provides a dedicated "Translate content" action block that seamlessly integrates into your existing Shopify Flow workflows.
Configuration Options:
- Content Selection - Choose to translate newly created/updated products and collections, or specify particular items manually
- Target Languages - Select multiple languages from your Transcy configuration
- Translation Engine - Pick the most appropriate engine for your content and quality requirements
2. Supported Triggers and Use Cases
Primary Triggers Available:
- Product Created - Automatically translate new products as soon as they're added
- Collections Created - Handle new collection translations immediately
Advanced Scenario:
Set up conditional triggers that only activate translation when content doesn't already have translations in your target languages, preventing unnecessary re-translation and quota usage.
3. Monitoring Translation Activity
Every translation action triggered through Shopify Flow creates detailed logs showing:
- Success/Failure Status - Clear indication of translation completion
- Content Details - Specific items that were translated
- Action History - Complete record within Flow's native logging system
This integration ensures your translation activities are fully visible within your existing Shopify Flow monitoring dashboard.
IV. Managing Your Automate Translation Setup
1. Quota Management and Plan Considerations
Smart Quota Handling:
- When your translation queue exceeds your plan's quota, Transcy disables additional content in alphabetical order from bottom to top
- Plan Upgrades - Previously disabled content automatically becomes available when you upgrade your plan
- Plan Downgrades - The system helps you adjust your content selection to fit within your new quota limits
Future Content Notifications:
If you're using condition-based rules with future content enabled, Transcy will notify you when new content exceeds your quota and suggest quota extensions to ensure continuous translation coverage.
2. Understanding plan limitations
Publishing your automate rules: After creating automation rules, you must publish them to activate automatic translation functionality. This step is crucial – unpublished rules won't trigger any automation.
Plan-based limitations: Each Transcy plan includes specific limits for Automate Translation. Reference the Overview of Transcy Pricing Plans to understand your current limits.
Managing plan changes:
- Downgrading: Rules automatically become unpublished and need manual reactivation within new plan limits
- Upgrading: Gain access to higher limits and can publish more rules for automation
Reaching your limits: When you hit your plan's limit:
- New rules cannot be activated until existing ones are removed or unpublished
- Consider upgrading your plan for higher limits
- Alternative: Purchase additional resource quotas to extend current plan capabilities
