# How to Format Currency

*Use **Transcy**'s currency formatting features to fine-tune how your prices display to customers worldwide. This guide covers everything from display formats to exchange rates, helping you create a seamless shopping experience for each market.*

**Important:** 
* **Transcy only formats the currencies you convert from your default currency** (aka “**target currencies**”). So, if you want to change how your default currency looks or formats, you’ll need to contact Shopify Support.
* **Transcy doesn’t automatically change prices or taxes based on a shopper’s location**. Example: If you want prices in Germany to include VAT and prices in the US to exclude it, you’ll need to set that up in Shopify or another app

| You need at least a Local plus plan to unblock the format currency feature.

## I. Format Currency with Transcy

You'll see three main formatting sections:
* **Currency Format** - Visual appearance
* **Exchange Rate** - How prices convert
* **Price Rounding** - How final prices display

## II. Formatting Currency Display

To navigate "**Format Currency**", please follow:
→ Go to "**Market management"** → "**Currencies"**
→ Select your ***target currency***
→ Click the "**3 dots icon"** → "**Edit format"**
→ Navigate **"Currency format"**

Make your currencies look exactly how you want them! You can format:
* **Flag display** - Show country flags with currencies
* **Currency name** - Full name (e.g., "US Dollar")
* **Currency symbol** - Symbol display (e.g., "$", "€")
* **Currency code** - Three-letter code (e.g., "USD", "EUR")

## III. Managing Exchange Rates

To navigate "**Exchange Rate**", please follow:
→ Go to "**Market management"** → "**Currencies"**
→ Select your ***target currency***
→ Click the "**3 dots icon"** → "**Edit format"**
→ Navigate **"Exchange Rate"**

**Transcy** gives you two flexible options for handling exchange rates:

### Auto Exchange Rate (Recommended)

* Updates daily using reliable market data
* Based on GMT+7 timezone
* Uses trusted third-party financial services
* Perfect for most stores - set it and forget it!
Auto exchange rate which use [Transcy's service](https://www.google.com/finance/quote/EUR-USD) from a 3rd-party provider

|| Auto exchange rates refresh daily based on GMT+7 timezone using reliable financial data

|| Transcy uses USD as the base currency for all exchange rate calculations, this ensures consistency across all your international markets. And USD can't be change

### Manual Exchange Rate

* Set your own custom rates
* Full control over pricing
* Great for specific business needs

|| Exchange rates and rounding rules for your store's default currency cannot be modified

**Important Notes:**

* **Reset to Default** restores all settings and switches to auto exchange rates
* Auto rates update daily based on current market conditions
* You cannot change exchange rates for your default currency
* Please note that **USD serves as the base currency for all conversions**. You can only set up exchange rates from USD to other currencies, with no exceptions.

|| Transcy currently do not support geolocation-based pricing with automatic tax adjustments for specific countries

|| Default currency exchange rate management must be handled through Shopify Support. Transcy does not have access to modify or configure your store's default currency settings

## IV. Setting Up Price Rounding

To navigate "**Price Rounding**", please follow:
→ Go to "**Market management"** → "**Currencies"**
→ Select your ***target currency***
→ Click the "**3 dots icon"** → "**Edit format"**
→ Navigate **"Price Rounding"**

Control exactly how your converted prices appear to customers:

### No Rounding

* The converted price will be displayed exactly as calculated without rounding.

### Rounding Rules

* **Decimal places:** Choose how many numbers after the decimal point
* **Rounding method:** 
* Always **round up**
* Always **round down**
* Follow standard math rules (recommended)

After clicking "**Save**", a pop-up titled "**Update price rounding rules**" will appear, allowing you to apply your changes to selected currencies. In this pop-up, you can either select individual currencies by checking them one by one, or click "**Select all**" to apply the changes to all available currencies.

### Fixed Decimals

* Set all prices to end with specific decimals (like .99 or .00)
* Great for consistent, professional pricing

|| Currency comma formatting follows Shopify's standard and cannot be customized through Transcy, please contact Shopify for formatting changes.

|| Please note that any changes to the currency format will apply to all markets using that currency — it is not possible to set a different format per individual market.

## V. Additional Settings

If you looking for "**Show original price on hover" or  "Show cart page notifications"** . Follow these steps:
→ Go to "**Account & Settings"**
→ Click on "**Localization settings"**
→ Scroll down and navigate to "**Currency settings**"
→ You will see 2 option:
* **Show original price on hover** - Let customers see the original price when they hover over converted prices
* **Show cart page notifications** - Display helpful currency info on the cart page
