How to Lock Translations in Transcy

You edited a translation by hand, then a bulk translation, a Glossary rule or an automation rule replaced it. Lock the translation and Transcy will leave it as it is.

How to lock a translation

→ Go to Transcy → Content translation
→ Open the resource you want (for example Products) and select the item
→ Click into the translated field you want to keep
→ In the field toolbar, click the Lock button (padlock icon)

Click the same button again to unlock it.

Lock works on each field and each language separately. Locking the French translation of a product title does not lock its German translation.

What a lock protects against

A locked translation is skipped and left exactly as it is by:

  • Translate with AI (bulk, selected items, or Translate all resources)
  • Automation rules (auto-translate)
  • Glossary rules
  • Re-use existing translation from another market
  • Deleting translations

Skipped fields use no tokens.

What you can still change

A lock stops automatic changes, not your own. You can still:

  • Edit the locked field and Save
  • Restore an older version from Translation history
  • Mark as translated

Good to know

  • When you change the original content in your default language, a locked field shows Outdated and keeps its current translation. Update it by hand, or unlock it so it can be translated again.
  • Locks for theme content belong to your current live theme. If you publish another theme, lock those fields again there.
  • You lock one field at a time. There is no bulk lock or "Locked" filter yet.
  • Lock is available on all plans. It does not apply to image translation.
