How to Translate and Manage URL Handle in app with Transcy

Create localized, SEO-friendly URLs that resonate with your global customers and boost your international reach.

Since June 26, 2023, Shopify has enhanced its platform by supporting and providing APIs for third-party translation apps like Transcy to manually enter translations for URL handles. This powerful feature allows you to display different URL versions to customers across various languages, creating a truly localized shopping experience.

Why Translate URL Handles?

Imagine transforming your generic product URL from "ABC.com/products/red-shoes" into language-specific versions like "ABC.com/en/products/red-shoes" or "ABC.com/fr/products/chaussures-rouges". With Transcy, you can effortlessly translate and manage URL handle translations, making your store more accessible and search-engine friendly for international customers.

What Can You Translate?

Transcy supports URL handle translations for:
Products - Make your product URLs speak your customers' language
Collections - Organize your catalog with localized category names
Blogs - Share your brand story in multiple languages
Articles - Connect with readers through localized content URLs
Pages - Create welcoming landing pages for every market

How It Works

Setting up translated URL handles is straightforward with Transcy. Simply access the URL translation feature in your app dashboard and start customizing your URLs for each target language.

Note:
default URL and target URL should be different to maximize SEO benefits. If they're identical, Transcy will automatically append the language code to your URL (e.g., "water-dispenser-feeder/ko" for Korean), ensuring each language version remains unique.
