## I. Understanding Translation Management and Language Types

**Transcy's translation management system** serves as your central hub for controlling how your store content appears across different languages and markets. Rather than leaving translation to chance, this comprehensive system gives you the flexibility to choose the most appropriate translation method for each piece of content, ensuring quality and consistency across your entire multilingual store.
The "**Content Translation"** interface displays all your store's translatable resources in an organized, easy-to-navigate format. From here, you can view translation status, initiate new translations, edit existing ones, and manage how content synchronizes between your **Shopify store** and **Transcy**.

Before diving in, let's understand the two types of languages **Transcy** offers and why it matters for your business.

### 1. What "Editable Language" Means

Editable languages save your translations directly on the server (not just displayed in browsers). This gives you:
• **Full control** - manually edit, review, and track translation status (**Untranslated** / **Outdated / Partly Translated** / **Translated**)
• **SEO benefits** - search engines can find and index your translated content, bringing more international customers
**Key takeaways:** Long-term international expansion and serious SEO strategy

### 2. What "Non-Editable Language" Means

Non-editable languages show translations on your storefront using JavaScript magic. Since nothing saves on the server:
• **No manual editing** (if **your languages** is "**Non-Editable**", it's will **not appear** in "**Manage Translation**")
• **No SEO indexing** - search engines can't see these translations
**Key takeaways:** Quick testing or temporary coverage while you plan your full international strategy, and no need to hand-on. Everything will be automatic

| Note: Plan limits for Editable and Non-editable languages vary by subscription. See details in this [article](https://help.transcy.io/en/article/transcy-pricing-plan-1tsl3uz/), or learn more about the two language types [here](https://help.transcy.io/en/article/what-are-the-differences-between-non-editable-and-editable-languages-in-transcy-nkgbfq/).

## II. Check Your Language Type

Not sure which type your target language is? Here's how to find out:
→ Go to **"Market** **management" menu** **in Transcy** → Look down to navigate **"Global settings"** → Click **"Languages"**

Find your **target language** and check the **"Edit translation"** column:
• **"Enable"** = "**Editable language**"
• **"Disable"** = "**Non-editable language**"

## III. Translating with Editable Languages

### 1. Sync Content from Shopify

Fresh content means accurate translations. While most resources appear automatically, syncing ensures nothing gets missed after big updates.
→ Go to **"Content translation" menu in Transcy** → Click "**Sync content**" on the top right corner.

![Sync content interface](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/3/5/1/b/351b76ece3eb1400/screenshot9_18e8xw6.png)

### 2. Choose Language and Content

In your "**Manage Translation"** dashboard, you'll see all available resources organized by type in the **"Resource name"** column. **Transcy** makes selection flexible and efficient:
* **Individual Selection**: Choose specific resources that need translation, perfect for targeted updates or new content additions.
* **Bulk Selection**: Select multiple resources simultaneously for efficient batch processing, ideal when launching in new markets or updating existing translations.
* **Select All**: Choose all available resources for comprehensive translation, ensuring complete language coverage across your entire store.
Follow to: "**Content translation**" **menu in Transcy** → Scroll down to see all the resources in Transcy

Transcy provides these object types to help users easily manage their content, including: "**Product**", "**Collections**", "**Transcy integrations**", "**Themes**", "**Blog posts**", "**Pages**", "**Navigation**", "**Preferences**", "**Payments**", "**Shipping and deliver**y", **Policies**", "**Metaobjects**", "**Metafields**", "**Notifications**".

| The more translation data processed at once, the longer it takes and the more difficult it becomes to manage. Handle translations one resource at a time for optimal results.

| Your store already has full translation in target languages but in some cases you need to find its sub-resources and edit its translation manually to update new translation, please click on the needed resource type. For more details can be found [How to find and edit translation manually](https://help.transcy.io/en/article/how-to-search-and-edit-translated-content-manually-in-transcy-psmzld/).

### 4. Update Translation Status

**Transcy** provides clear status tracking for all your translations:
* **Untranslated**: Content has not been translated
* **Partly Translated**: Some part of content are translated, and some part has not been translated
* **Outdated**: Your original content has been updated, but the corresponding translations haven't been refreshed to match
* **Translated**: Translation finished

Got content that's already correct but showing wrong status?
→ Click the **three-dots button** → Select **"Mark as translated"**

For more information about status in Transcy, kindly follow [Understanding Translation Status](https://help.transcy.io/en/article/understanding-translation-status-14hc59c/)

### 5. Verify Your Changes

Time to see your work in action:

→ Open your storefront → Switch to target language → Check your updated pages

**Not seeing changes yet?** You might have a scheduled-sync resource:
• **Real-time resources** publish immediately after saving
• **Scheduled-sync resources** need a manual sync or wait for the next scheduled window

To sync immediately: **"Content translation" menu tab in Transcy** → Choose **"Settings" next to** "**Sync content**" **on the top right corner**.

![Sync settings interface](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/3/5/1/b/351b76ece3eb1400/screenshot12_ebxgji.png)

Switch to **Real-time** if you want instant updates on your storefront.

For fully understand about "Sync" in Transcy, kindly follow this article [Overview of Content Synchronization System](https://help.transcy.io/en/article/overview-of-content-synchronization-system-b2b65d/)

## IV. Translating with Non-Editable Languages

### 1. How It Works

Since your target language is non-editable, it won't appear in the **"Content translation"**. When published:
• **Transcy** uses **Google Translate's AI** technology (google.translate.js)
• Translated content appears on your storefront through JavaScript

### 2. Limitations

• **No manual editing** in "**Content translation**"
• **No status tracking (no need to worry about Untranslated/Partly Translated/Outdated/Translated** statuses). Your content will fully translated on your storefont without caring about the status)
• **Can't fix translations directly** - if something looks wrong, switch the language to Editable first, then edit and save

---

## Conclusion

Whether you choose the full control of Editable languages or the quick setup of Non-editable ones, **Transcy** makes international expansion accessible for every store owner. Start with what fits your current needs - you can always upgrade your approach as your global business grows.
