What is Beta Language and how it works

We're launching beta languages that significantly expands the number of languages you can manage translations for, including the ability to edit and manage translations for previously non-editable languages!

Currently, Shopify limits editable languages to 20. Our beta program breaks down this barrier, allowing you to enable up to 148 languages: the standard 20 editable languages from Shopify, plus an additional 128 non-editable languages powered by Transcy

Note

- Users who join the beta and enable translations for non-editable languages will continue to use these enabled language translations without any additional charges when the service is officially release

Limitations of beta languages

- The beta languages have not supported AI translation tool including OpenAI, DeepL, DeepSeek, Grok, Gemini, Baidu and expert translation services
- The beta languages have not supported to translate checkout page
- The beta languages have not supported to use the function Automate translation and Glossary

What Happens if You Downgrade?

If you are a Premium or Enterprise user participating in the beta and decide to downgrade to a Growth, Basic, or Free plan, the beta functionality for non-editable languages will be disabled. If you upgrade again in the future, you will need to re-join the beta program to regain access to this feature .
