AI Translation Method Notes

Transcy token and own API key are two different AI translation methods.
Using AI engines via Transcy token does not require the merchant to have an account with the AI provider.
Google is free and does not consume Transcy tokens.
Local Plus and Regional support AI translation via Transcy token only. They do not support connecting an own API key.
Continental, Cross-Border, and Global support both methods: AI translation via Transcy token, and AI translation via own API key.
Own API key is supported only for OpenAI, Gemini, and DeepL.
DeepL is not available via Transcy token. DeepL can only be used by connecting an own DeepL API key on supported plans.
When using an own API key, translation cost is billed directly by the AI provider and does not consume Transcy tokens.

Shopify Language Sync Limit for Global Plan

The Global plan supports up to 147 target languages in Transcy, and all 147 languages can be editable in Transcy.

However, Shopify currently supports syncing translations for up to 20 languages. This means only up to 20 selected languages can be synced back to Shopify.

Languages beyond Shopify’s 20-language sync limit are stored in Transcy. If Transcy is uninstalled, translations stored only in Transcy will not remain in Shopify.

Merchants using the Global plan should carefully choose which languages need to be synced with Shopify, especially for their most important markets.

How to Compare Plans in Transcy

To view all pricing plans in the app:

Go to Account & Settings → Change plan → scroll to Compare plans → select Show most suitable plans → select Show all plans.

Important Notes

The 7-day free trial is available for all paid plans. The Free plan does not require a free trial.
Annual billing saves 20% compared to monthly billing.
Target languages are the total number of languages you can add to your store, excluding your default language.
Editable language limits are maximums, not fixed allocations. You can use fewer editable languages than the plan maximum.
Languages that are not set as editable can still be used as non-editable target languages, as long as the total number of target languages stays within your plan limit.
For example, the Cross-Border plan supports 50 target languages in total and up to 20 editable languages. If you do not need editable translation, you can use all 50 target languages as non-editable languages. If you use 10 editable languages, the remaining 40 target languages can be non-editable.
The Global plan supports 147 target languages in Transcy, and all 147 languages can be editable in Transcy.
When a target language is published, the store can be translated by the 3rd-party app function by default. However, manual translation editing is limited by the plan’s Products editable translation quota and editable language limit.
Products editable translation quota means the number of products whose translations can be manually edited per editable language. It does not mean only those products can be translated by the automatic browser translation function.
Quotas based on plan are not refreshed monthly. The quota shown is the total available throughout the subscription.
Some resource quotas can be extended through Custom Resource Extensions. Languages and currencies cannot be extended on any Transcy plan; to get more languages or currencies, you must upgrade to a higher plan.
Extension packages do not stack. Each resource supports only one active extension package at a time. Purchasing a new package replaces the previous package, while the base plan quota remains.
