FAQ: Do I have to pay the full price when I upgrade or extend mid-cycle?

Short answer: no — you do not pay the full amount again. When you upgrade your plan or extend a quota partway through a billing cycle, you pay the difference for the days remaining in that cycle — not the full listed price.

The screen Shopify shows you before you approve displays the listed price of the plan or extension you selected. That is the figure for a full cycle. The amount actually taken reflects the time left in your current cycle, with the unused part of what you already paid credited toward the change.

Example

You are 15 days into a 30-day cycle and you extend your product quota. The approval screen shows the extension's monthly price, but the charge covers only the 15 days remaining.

This applies to plan upgrades and to quota extensions, on both monthly and annual billing.

After you approve

Your change takes effect straight away. From your next billing date onward, you are billed the normal full amount for your new plan or extension.

If the amount on your invoice does not look right to you, send us the invoice, and we will go through it with you.
