FAQ: Do languages added by other apps count toward my Transcy plan limit?
Short answer: yes. Transcy counts the total number of target languages active in your Shopify store, no matter which app added them — including Shopify's own Translate & Adapt and any translation app you used before.
Your store's default language is never counted. Only target languages count.
If you are seeing a limit message
If Transcy shows you something like "Your current plan limits the number of languages published. Reselect and try again or upgrade to have more", or a "Language migration needed" notice, this is usually why: your store has more target languages than your plan covers, counting the ones other apps added.
Why this matters before you choose a plan
Languages live at the store level in Shopify, and Transcy reads that total. So a language you added somewhere else still takes up one of your Transcy slots, even though you never added it inside Transcy.
Example
In your store | Counted by Transcy |
|---|---|
1 default language | not counted |
2 languages added via Translate & Adapt | 2 |
1 language added in Transcy | 1 |
Total | 3 → a Regional plan is exactly at its limit |
What to do
→ Before choosing or upgrading a plan, check your real total.
Go to Shopify admin → Settings → Languages and count the target languages listed there — published and unpublished, from every app. That number, not the number you added in Transcy, is what your plan has to cover.
Plan | Total target languages |
|---|---|
Free | 1 |
Local Plus | 1 |
Regional | 3 |
Continental | 15 |
Cross-Border | 50 |
Global | 147 |
