FAQ: Should I extend my quota or move up to a higher plan?
Both routes get you more room. They are priced differently, and which one is cheaper depends entirely on what you are running out of.
The short version
→ Short on one resource only — products, glossary rules, automate rules, images? Keep your plan and add an extension. That is almost always cheaper.
→ Short on languages or currencies? A higher plan is the only route. These cannot be extended on any plan.
→ Short on several things at once, or missing a feature? A higher plan usually works out better, because it raises everything together instead of one line at a time.
A worked comparison
Say you need room for about 10,000 products.
Keep Regional + extension | Move up to Continental + extension | |
|---|---|---|
Plan | $29 | $69 |
Product extension | +10,000 ($79.90) | +10,000 ($69.90) |
Total per month | $108.90 | $138.90 |
Products you end up with | 200 + 10,000 = 10,200 | 300 + 10,000 = 10,300 |
Target languages | 3 | 15 |
Target currencies | Up to 3 | Up to 15 |
Glossary rules | 20 | 200 |
Auto language switching by visitor location | Not available | Available |
If products are genuinely the only thing you are short of, staying on Regional saves you $30 a month. If you also want more languages, more currencies, or location-based switching, Continental is the better buy even though the product line costs about the same.
Two things worth knowing before you decide
If you would rather not work it out yourself
Tell us three things and we will lay both options out for you with the real monthly totals:
- How many target languages you need
- How many currencies you need
- How many products you need translated
