FAQ: Can Transcy translate the product vendor name?

Short answer: The vendor (brand) name is not editable inside the Transcy app, but it is still translated automatically on your live storefront as long as the "3rd-party app" function is on for that language.

Inside the Transcy app: the vendor field is not synced into Transcy's translation editor, so you won't find it there to translate or edit by hand. Transcy shows the original vendor name exactly as it comes from your Shopify product content.

On your storefront: when a visitor views your store in another language, Transcy's automatic on-page translation - the "3rd-party app" function - translates the visible page content, including the vendor name, as the page loads. So visitors still see the vendor name translated, even though you can't hand-edit it in the app.

One thing to check: this only happens while "3rd-party app" is On for the language in question. It is on by default for every language, so in most stores nothing needs doing. To confirm or switch it back on, go to Market management -> Languages, pick the language, open the three-dot menu, and check 3rd-party app. On some plans this function is not available - if the option is locked, that is why.

What you can and can't control: because the vendor name is translated automatically on the page rather than stored in Transcy, you cannot review or correct that translation by hand. If the translated vendor name is wrong or you'd rather it stayed in the original language, contact our team and we'll advise on the options for your store.
