FAQ: Why my Glossary rule not working after clicking "Publish & Apply Rule"?
Having trouble with Glossary rules not applying to your translations? Here are the most common reasons and how to fix them.
My Glossary rule isn't working - what's wrong?
There are three main reasons why your Glossary rule might not apply after clicking "Publish & Apply Rule":
Reason 1: You don't have in-app translations yet
Problem: Your content hasn't been translated through Transcy's system.
Solution: Create in-app translations first:
→ Click "Translate" to generate new translations
→ This will create translations that can work with your Glossary rules
Reason 2: Your translations come from manual editing or premium engines
Problem: Your current translations were created through:
- Manual translation (you edited them yourself)
- DeepL translation engine
- OpenAI translation engine
Solution: Re-translate that content manually using the same method as Reason 1. Glossary rules need fresh translations to apply properly.
Reason 3: Context mismatch with our Google translation system
Problem: Even if your translations came from Google Translate, the rule might not work because:
- Your Glossary rule has different context meaning
- Google's original translation doesn't match your rule's context
- The system can't find the right existing translation to replace
Solution: Manually re-translate the affected content to ensure the Glossary rule can apply correctly.
How can I avoid these issues in the future?
Best practice: Set up your Glossary rules before doing large translation batches. This way, new translations will automatically follow your rules from the start.
Do I need to re-translate everything?
No! You only need to re-translate content where the Glossary rule isn't applying. Other translations can stay as they are.
