FAQ: What is the Third-party app resource?

Transcy's Third-party app integration feature allows you to automatically translate content from various external applications without manual editing. Whether you're running a multi-language store or expanding to global markets, this powerful integration capability ensures all your store content remains consistent across languages, even when using multiple apps in your Shopify ecosystem.

I. Understanding Third-Party App Resource

What is Third-Party App Resource?

Third-Party App Resource is a powerful feature within Transcy that enables automatic translation of content created by external Shopify apps. This seamless integration ensures that all elements of your store maintain linguistic consistency, regardless of which apps you use to build your store experience.

With this feature, you can translate content from supported third-party applications without needing to manually edit the translations, saving you significant time and effort in managing your multilingual store.

For the full picture of how the two integration types differ and which apps are on each, see What is Transcy Integration?

II. Important Notes and Considerations

Transcy has 2 types of app integration, and which one an app uses is what decides whether you can edit its translation by hand.

  • Basic integration - Transcy translates the app's content automatically on your storefront, but that translation is generated live and not stored, so it cannot be edited in-app. This covers most third-party apps (review widgets, popups, upsell tools, and so on) and is available on all plans, including Free.
  • Advanced integration - the app's content is synced into Transcy and translated as its own resource, which is what lets you edit those translations by hand. This needs your target language set to Editable, and manual translation editing is available on paid plans (Local Plus and above).

Apps currently on Advanced integration:

Page builders are a separate case. EComposer Landing Page Builder and Gempage Landing Page Builder push their content into your store's Theme, so Transcy translates them as Theme content. You manage those translations under Content translation -> Theme, not under Transcy Integration.

We keep working to integrate with more third-party apps, and will let you know as they are added.

You can find the apps integrated with Transcy in our Integration list menu.

Transcy Integration list menu

If the app you use is on Advanced integration and you want to manage its translation, tick the box "I've already installed app, start integrating with Transcy" on that app.

Example:

Tick the box to start integrating the app with Transcy

For instance, to edit the translation of OneMobile: after ticking that box on OneMobile, you will find the OneMobile app and its contents under the Transcy integration resource in Manage translation, where you can edit them with an Editable language.

You do need to install OneMobile and finish setting it up in that app first - otherwise there is no content for Transcy to collect.

The Transcy integration resource in Manage translation

So an app's translation only appears under the Transcy integration resource when all of these are true: the app is installed on your store, the app is in our Integration list, you have marked "I've already installed app", and the app is on Advanced integration.

Translate and Edit buttons on the Transcy integration resource

If you have not installed an app, the Translate/Edit button on the Transcy integration resource stays disabled.

NOTE

  • When the user Unchecks "I've already installed app" of an app in the Integration menu, it will remove the app from the list page.
  • The sections inside Transcy Integration resource: all the default content sent by the app partner.
  • We do not support editing default content, please kindly edit default content directly in the app partner.
  • When you downgrade from a higher plan to Free plan, only show automatic translation, not show manual/edited translation. Manual translation data (if any) is stored for 90 days - if you upgrade again within that window, your manual translations come back. After 90 days the data will be deleted.
  • In case you remove the app partner, its translation data is stored for 90 days, after 90 days the data will be deleted.
  • If you delete an app partner on your store, that app will be removed out of the Third-party app list.
